Epsilon Sigma, ETSU’s chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society for Nurses, will hold an event to increase awareness of the many roles that nurses play in health care.
The First Annual “Walk With Nursing” will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 5-9 p.m. in the Center for Physical Activity. This event is a fundraiser for Sigma Theta Tau and a way to honor the hard work of nursing professionals.
The cost for the program is $10, but a T-shirt and tote bag will be given at the door. There will also be free drinks and Papa John’s pizza available.
Participants at the “Walk With Nursing” will be able to walk in memory or honor of a nurse who has affected their lives. An 8′ x 4′ wall will be built with nameplates of those nurses who are being remembered and honored.
Several doorprizes will be given during the walk including Ruby Tuesday’s and Olive Garden gift certificates, free Gatlinburg and Myrtle Beach lodging vouchers and cellular phones. There will also be free blood pressure screenings and health-care professionals on hand to answer questions.
Applications are available in the Center for Physical Activity or at the door. For more information go online to www.etsu.edu/etsucon/sigma.htm.
