ETSU’s men’s tennis team advanced two singles players into Sunday’s semi-finals round and one doubles team to the finals following a successful day two at the South Carolina Fall Invitational.
Diego Iglesias defeated Wofford’s Kent Ball in three games (6-3, 5-7, 6-1) and was victorious over Mark Finnegan of Georgia Southern (6-3, 6-2) in order to advance to the semis.
Sophomore Federico Ochoa also had good day, knocking off College of Charleston’s Cave Figueiredo (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Michael Jezt of Armstrong Atlantic (7-6, 2-6, 6-3).
Senior Francisco Diaz defeated Christian Rybertt of Jacksonville State (6-2, 4-6, 7-6) and Armstrong Atlantic’s Tim Offerman (7-6, 6-1) in order to advance to the finals of the consolation bracket.
In Flight B-1 doubles action, Buc tandem Francisco Diaz and Moises Serrano advanced to Sunday’s finals after Alabama-Birmingham’s duo had to withdraw because of injury.
Diaz and Serrano faced North Carolina State’s Rehman Esmail and Will Shaw for the championship, but were not finished by press time.
