Stefani Workman and Tracy Tenholder combined for two goals and two assists to lead Morehead State to a 3-1 win over ETSU Sunday.
The game was the last of ETSU’s regular season and the final home game for seniors Lena Summers and Elizabeth Smith.
Morehead scored the first two goals of the game. The first came at the 41-minute mark as a Casey Mowery cross found Workman for the goal.
Four minutes into the second period the Eagles scored again as Christina Moore received a pass from Tenholder and fired the ball from outside the box to put Morehead up 2-0.
The Bucs’ only goal of the day came at the 54:30 mark as freshman Erin Ashton scored off a Kerri Burke assist. Morehead scored their final goal which came from Tenholder on pass from Workman.
“We didn’t take care of the details and stick to our game plan. I could see their thoughts drifting to the tournament,” ETSU head coach Heather Henson said. “We need to turn it around for Thursday’s game.”
ETSU outshot Morehead State 21-13. Buc keeper Heather Sanden had five saves on the day. Morehead’s keeper, Sarah Clark, had eight.
ETSU travels to Greensboro, N.C., Wednesday for the 2002 SoCon Tournament. The Bucs will take on No. 1 seeded Furman on Thursday at 5 p.m.
