Dear Editor:
Sigma Kappa Sorority is a social organization that prides itself on the intellectual development of its members.
Each year, Sigma Kappa sponsors a risk awareness and scholarship program on campus to enrich the lives of its members and all students.
This year Sigma Kappa co-sponsored a Depression Awareness Program and a Resume Writing Program. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our co-sponsors of these programs for all their hard work and dedication to make these programs a huge success.
The ETSU Counseling Center and Sigma Nu Fraternity were co-sponsors for the Depression Awareness Program.
Kim Bushore-Maki and Laura Jones did an excellent job covering all the causes and symptoms of depression and provided very useful and beneficial information to everyone present.
Sigma Kappa has worked with the Counseling Center before, and the staff is always willing to help with anything that needs to be done. We appreciate all their efforts and enjoy working with them tremendously.
Thanks also to Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and the Career Placement Center for allowing us to co-sponsor their Resume Writing Workshop. The speaker, Calvin Purvis of Career Placement, demonstrated an excellent knowledge of all things resume-related and was extremely helpful in answering everyone’s questions.
He gave us very useful information and explained all the services provided by the Career Placement Center that we would have never known existed if it weren’t for the Resume Writing Program.
We appreciate the opportunity to have had the chance to co-sponsor this program and look forward to working with Lambda Chi Alpha and the Career Placement Center in the future.
This year, the attendance and response of our members and non-Greek students was higher than it has been in many years. We are very proud of our member’s’ attendance and very pleased with the response of the non-Greek students.
Sigma Kappa Sorority members hope to continue our sponsorship of many educational programs and encourage the attendance of non-Greek students to these beneficial workshops.
Jessica Clark, President
Sigma Kappa Sorority
