Dear Editor,
I graduated from ETSU in 2005.
I opened my mailbox today, and was delighted to find an amazing credit card offer from the executive director of the ETSU alumni association, Robert Plummer!
I would like to thank Mr. Plummer for his generous offer to help increase my mountain of student loan debt by offering me an Accelerated Rewards Card from American Express. Really, Mr. Plummer, you shouldn’t have.
At first, I thought that signing up for a credit card might not be the wisest decision considering the sizable sum I still owe for my four wonderful years at ETSU, but then I saw that rewards were “just a mouse click away!”
How convenient! Thanks Mr. Plummer!
With all the news stories about soaring debt breaking the backs of today’s graduates, I would think that the ETSU Alumni Association would have a little more pride in the school and respect for its graduates than to become another piece of junk mail to be put in the shredder.
I hope your association doesn’t receive a single cent from this disgraceful initiative.
As a graduate who looks forward to throwing away your mail for years to come…
