At East Tennessee State University, 33 faculty members were promoted and 25 were granted tenure by the university’s governing body, the Tennessee Board of Regents, through action taken during its recent quarterly meeting in Nashville.
A total of 122 faculty members at the six universities within the TBR system achieved tenure, and 176 university faculty received promotions.
The sixth largest system of higher education in the nation, the TBR provides programs to more than 180,000 students in 90 of Tennessee’s 95 counties.
The following nine ETSU faculty members attained the rank of full professor: Earl Brown, Pathology; David Champouillon, Music; Martha Copp, Sociology and Anthropology; Anita DeAngelis, Art and Design; Marc Fagelson, Communicative Disorders; Jean Culp Flanigan, Sherrod Library Media Center; Debra Mills, Pediatrics; Suzanne Smith, Computer and Information Sciences; and Elwood Watson, History.
Elevated to associate professor were the following 24 faculty members: Beth Ann Bailey, Joann D’Aprile-Lubrano, Beth Anne Fox, Jason Moore and Douglas Rose, Family Medicine; Jane Broderick and Janna Scarborough, Human Development and Learning; Terrance Clark and Michele Moser, Psychiatry; Kelly Dorgan, Communication; Rosalind Gann, Curriculum and Instruction; Mira Gerard and Patricia Mink, Art and Design; Masoud Ghaffari, Adult Nursing; Joe Keith Green, Philosophy and Humanities; Mary Ann Littleton, Public Health; Steve Loyd and Deling Yin, Internal Medicine; Kerry Proctor-Williams, Communicative Disorders; Jasmine Renner, Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis; Andrew Slap, History; David Tarnoff, Computer and Information Sciences; and Karen Tarnoff and Craig Turner, Management and Marketing.
The following 17 faculty members were granted tenure in addition to their promotions: Bailey, Broderick, Dorgan, Fox, Gann, Gerard, Ghaffari, Green, Littleton, Mink, Proctor-Williams, Renner, Rose, Scarborough, Slap, Smith and Turner.
Another eight faculty members also achieved tenure: Paul Baggett, Social Work; Kristen Borthwick, Sharon Cradic, Ariane Day, Amy Horton and Aleeta Shaw, University School; Cheryl Cornett, Digital Media; and James Wronecki, Technology and Geomatics.
