Competing in its first tournament since the second-round of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships last May, the ETSU men’s tennis team wrapped up its first fall tournament at the University of Virginia Fall Classic, in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend.
In the A-1 singles bracket, sophomore Matej Zlatkovic took the first set before Nguyen, who was playing on his home court, rallied for a come-from-behind win for the three-set victory 4-6, 7-6, 6-1. The Bucs had a strong showing in field that featured seven players that boast a ITA top-125 ranking or better.
In doubles action ETSU would drop its first round match in bracket A, as the team of Teraz and freshman Charles Bottoni dropped to Nebraska’s Paar and Bendheim and Columbia’s Nichifor and Schneiderman. ETSU men’s tennis team returns to action with a Sept. 19 weekend tournament at the Southern Intercollegiate Classic, in Athens, Ga.
