Area singer and musician Brim Leal will perform in a Hispanic Heritage Celebration at East Tennessee State University next Tuesday (Sept. 23) from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the D.P. Culp University Center’s Cave patio area.
This free concert celebrating Latino culture is sponsored by ETSU’s Office of Multicultural Affairs.
Leal, born in Havana, Cuba, and raised and educated in the United States, comes from a musical and medical family. He began studying music, particularly classical and jazz, at an early age and had signed with Atlantic Records in New York at the age of 17 as a writer, performer and recording artist. Throughout his career as a Latin/jazz/rhythm-and-blues fusion musician and vocalist, he has performed on stage with many legendary musical acts, including Three Dog Night, The Doors, the Young Rascals, Bob Seger, The Temptations, Jose Feliciano, Led Zeppelin and others.
He has also appeared with the Miami Philharmonic and the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra.
Leal, who tours frequently around the country, currently resides near Unicoi, where he has his own recording studio and is very active in community affairs musically and commercially.
