Contrary to popular belief, a football program at ETSU is alive and well – and it’s free.
ETSU offers an intramural sports program that lets students play a selection of sports free of charge.
The sports offered this fall are soccer, flag football and volleyball. In the spring, basketball and softball will be available. Different skill levels are offered for players in the men’s divisions of flag football.
Men’s A division is offered for more experienced players. Those who played at the high school varsity level or higher are encouraged to sign up for Men’s A division. Men’s B division is intended for players with little or no experience. A Women’s division, as well as a Co-Rec division, is offered.
Competitions and activities are held in league, tournament, meet and race format.
Overall winners receive intramural championship T-shirts provided by Buck’s Pizza. Leagues are played at the CPA Sunday through Thursdays.

Adam Knobloch has been the coordinator of intramural sports at ETSU for the past three years.
“Something new this year is that intramural sports has signed a contract with ACIS sports which offers prizes for students at ETSU,” said Knobloch. “To sign up for these prizes you don’t have to play any intramural sports. All you have to do is go on to acisports.com and sign up.”
Weekly prize giveaways include an Xbox 360, $100 cash, Norelco electric shavers or $50 Nike gift card. Grand prize winners could receive two tickets to next year’s Sugar Bowl or an ultimate Xbox Elite system bundle.
