Baseball set for annual Blue/Gold World SeriesThe ETSU baseball team is set for its 10th annual Blue/Gold World Series. First pitch of the best-of-seven series is slated for Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
Last year, the Gold squad came back to defeat the Blue squad after dropping the first game in the three-game series. This year’s winning team will receive a catered lunch, while the losing squad will have peanut
butter and jelly and the opportunity to run in the 5K Jingle Bell run on Dec. 6.
Stupak’s run comes to an end at Championships
After receiving the honor of an at-large bid by the National Tournament Committee, ETSU women’s tennis junior Yevgeniya Stupak’s (Kyiv, Ukraine), run at the ITA Women’s
All-American Tournament came to an end Monday night, as the No. 63rd-ranked Stupak
dropped both her opening round matches.
In her first round contest Stupak faced Kristi Boxx of the University of Mississippi. As in her opening round match Stupak
started strong rallying to win the opening set, however the No. 34th-ranked Ormond stormed back to take the second
set and third sets for the match.
Rotich wins fifth career Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week award
With less than five weeks until the 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference Cross Country Championships, junior Kenneth
Rotich (Nairobi, Kenya) made a statement run on the course which the championship
will be contested, winning the Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational
to earn his second A-Sun Runner of the Week award of 2008, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
As a team, the Buccaneers benefited from Rotich’s first-place performance; as ETSU went on to win the overall team crown.
