Dear Editor,
This is in response to Rick Norwood’s letter entitled “Politics
is about Lies” in the Sept. 25 edition. Norwood wrote that the root of all corrupt politics
is money. I absolutely agree with you!
Despite the benign smiles and overtures you receive at forums like “Rock the Vote,” the majority of those in Congress are not doing it to serve the better
good of America. They are there to get power: kick-backs, political clout and favors.
They forget that they were elected to serve the people. They were elected to do what was best for their constituents, their district and their country.
In reality, they say and do whatever it takes to please the people that give them the most money. They often have to go against what they believe in, even flip-flopping on issues, in order to get elected.
Fortunately, I discovered a politician who sticks to his morals,
doesn’t accept bribes from lobbyists, and has made his money through honest work: organic farming and practicing medicine. I don’t even consider him a politician, I would call him a statesman instead. His name is Dr. Ron Paul, who is a Republican congressman.
I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting him and his wife, Carol, and speaking with them on several occasions about raising
a family, recipes, gardening and investing. Paul has made his money through righteous means. He is a millionaire, not because he accepted personal gifts from corporations, but because he invested his hard-earned money wisely in commodities:
gold, silver and mining
resources.
In addition, his financial advisor, Peter Schiff, has gone on CNN, MSNBC and other news networks advocating this same investment strategy. Lobbyists
don’t come to visit his office because they know that his vote can’t be bought. He’s had the same consistent, principled,
voting record for the past 20 years. He stands on the principles of the Constitution, even if that means he has to stand alone.
As Norwood said, “find them and vote for them, and the philosophy
will take care of itself.” Well, I found him and I voted for him! The philosophy part takes a bit more time. Don’t give up. Keep voting for good guys like Dr. Paul. In the meantime, join Ron Paul’s “Campaign for Liberty” at www.campaignforliberty.
