When we, as Christians, fully put our trust in God and work to do his will, the devil steps in. The devil tries to take all the glory out of what we are doing for the Lord. He takes pleasure in discouraging us. Sometimes we get so discouraged that we allow him to win and we stop fighting for Christ.
Throughout my life, I have had trials, been tested and I have been hurt. I have been scarred by people in my life. I turned the other cheek and let my faith dwindle to literally nothing. There were times I was exhausted and wanted to stop fighting for Christ. It’s so discouraging for me because I was letting the devil win. I thank God for being a forgiving God, a God who supplies us plenty of opportunities to serve him and do his will, a God that loves us no matter how many times we fail him and a God that is willing to fight and win for us! Even after my trials, I trust him! Now, I give him my whole mind, body and soul to do his will and glorify his name. I will not allow the devil to win. I will never stop fighting.
James 1:2,3 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance,” (NIV) and 1 Peter 4:14 says, “If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” (NIV) I will allow my faith to develop perseverance and invite the Spirit of glory and God to rest on me.
The devil will always fight us and try to test our faith. He brings trials and discouragements to our lives to try and pull us away from God. But we cannot allow these trials to destroy us, but we must use them to develop us.
Remember those words the next time you are faced with battles and trials. It is not a matter of if, its simply a matter of when! Do not let the devil win any more battles in your life – find your strength in the Lord and never stop fighting, even if fighting brings suffering for Christ.
