What are you doing next year during the week of March 9-14?
Faculty and staff (as well as graduate assistants) are invited to have a memorable and meaningful Spring Break 2009 while accompanying ETSU students on “Alternative Spring Break.”
Responsibilities include giving a mature perspective to the activities, encouraging students as they learn and write reflection pieces, and taking turns driving an ETSU 15-passenger van. Logistics are handled by students and ETSU Community Service Programs staff.
Participants’ interests will determine the projects selected, allowing volunteers to help shape the venues. Projects in 2008 included travel to the Mississippi Delta to create a museum using the home of a Civil Rights movement hero, trail maintenance and construction along Tennessee’s Cumberland Trail, and staffing a Florida camp for children with serious medical issues.
To sign up, or for further information, contact Jared Story with ETSU Community Service Programs in the SORC at 439-4293 or via serve@etsu.edu.
