Eating meat is funDear Editor,
This is in response to “How to treat vegetarians” in the Oct. 9 issue. I eat meat and I love it! But I don’t let my dietary preferences create any type of bias toward those who choose not to. If you do not want to eat meat, that is your right. But please don’t try to force it on those of us who do. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve seen ads and posters broadcasting “meat is murder.” If you’re going to try to shove in our face that we are morally wrong for our choices, don’t ask us not to judge you on yours.
And no, I don’t like to watch my food being slaughtered in front of me, but that’s not my conscious kicking in to say “this is evil.” I can simply get squeamish at times. There may be a correlation between red meat and colon cancer, but what about that case of broccoli giving people Ebola? Not to mention the tomato crisis that happened over this summer. Vegetables can carry just as many harmful effects as meat, so that point is moot. If you don’t want to be judged for what you eat, why are you casting your judgments down on us?
