In the Oct. 16 issue, in an
article that covered the LGBT
rally that took place on campus
Alex Bryant, a student who
participated in the march, was
interviewed and quoted. As
an ally and an advocate of the
transgender community, I was
hurt and offended to see that
Bryant was referred to as “she”
in the piece.
Pronouns may not seem that
important to those of us who
are not transgendered, but they
are a big deal in the trans community
and rightly so. It’s vital
that the media acknowledges
and respects the language used
by the LGBT community. I am
hoping that you will honor my
concern and make the correction.
Thank you.
