Dear Editor,
I have been enjoying the religion-based articles this semester and I can appreciate the desire to give supporters of other religions a voice. But what makes Whitney Harris’ articles so great is that they are positive and uplifting.
Negativity always seems to dominate the news, especially lately with the condition of our economy. It is a breath of fresh air to read something inspiring in a newspaper. It could be based on the teachings of Jesus, Mohammed or David Koresh for all I care.
I hope that advocates of other religions which are now being included do half the job Ms. Harris has with providing that inspiration.
The article “Atheist Confronts Religion” says some positive things. But I can still taste the bitterness toward mainstream society when I read it.
I like how “Walking by faith” is instructional and action-oriented. Articles for Atheists could be that way too. For example, one could teach how to let go of resentment toward one’s father or society as a whole.
