Dear Editor,
I recently received an e-mail concerning motorcycle parking on campus. It was enough to throw me over the edge.
It is all too clear to me now that this college has lost touch with its students’ needs.
Anyone who has ever been on another college campus knows that our food service is a joke. The prices are too high, and the quality is far too low.
The reason for this is the monopoly Aramark has on ETSU food service.
Any event on campus, in which the group wishes to provide catering, must be catered by Aramark.
This is ridiculous.
Another example is the parking situation. Countless times have I driven around aimlessly, hoping someone will leave campus so I can rush into their parking spot.
Still another example is the absurdity that is the housing department.
This university must recognize they cannot accept more students than they have the capacity to accommodate, both in housing and in parking.
Yet another example is the casual nature in which parking tickets are distributed.
Several weeks ago, I received a ticket for parking perfectly legally.
Still, yet another example is how the university groups are required to pay for the use of the Culp Auditorium.
Our own student center, and we have to pay to use it.
Oh, and let’s not forget the disaster that was the Financial Aid Office at the beginning of the semester, not to mention the repeated errors coming from the Bursar’s Office.
Some of my friends’ financial aid still hasn’t gone through.
ETSU must realize that it is here on behalf of the students, not the other way around.
