Dear Editor,
I have seen time and time again the televisions left on in the Cave after it has been closed up for the night, for the weekend and even for holidays, such as fall break. In a time when President Stanton has talked of maybe having to cut programs and even get rid of teachers, in the midst of a financial crisis at ETSU we should not be wasting money by leaving these televisions on when there are none to watch them. Second, how much are we having to pay to get mtvU pumped into our school? I rarely see anyone watch it, and I along with many people I have talked to find it more of an annoyance than anything else.
The Cave is supposed to be a place to study and talk with friends, the televisions make it a bad environment for both of these things. Not only is it a waste of money to pay for the electricity to run the three televisions in the main part of the Cave when no one is there, it is also a waste of our money to pay for it when people are there. I see no real purpose in having mtvU blasted into the cave and know that this money would be much better used elsewhere.
