As we get closer to Thanksgiving, and more importantly the end of the semester, we find ourselves in the middle of Sweeps Week on television.
What is Sweeps Week, you ask? It is the week that nearly all the networks put on the best episodes of all of their shows.
They air the most dramatic, the most hilarious and the most action-packed episodes in the course of a few weeks in hopes of amazing ratings.
On Monday is NBC’s “Chuck” at 8 p.m. This week’s episode entitled, “Chuck versus the Gravitron” finds Chuck facing a dangerous situation when he must deal with a monumental person betrayal while trying to save his relationship with Jill (Jordana Brewster).
She is the woman his bosses want him to exploit for information but whom Chuck wants a real relationship with outside of his secret agent life.
To change things up a little, I’m recommending the CW’s “One Tree Hill” at 9 p.m. This week’s special episode, entitled “We Three (My Echo, My Shadow and Me),” written by series star Chad Michael Murray, pays homage to the films of the 1940s in which Karen’s Café is turned into a nightclub and the cast of characters all play a role in a Noir-like story.
On Wednesday at 8 p.m. is ABC’s “Pushing Daises.” This sophomore show is hovering on the brink of cancellation so if you are a fan, or want to become one, enjoy the show while it’s on, this could very well be one of its final airings.
At 9 p.m. is CBS’s “Criminal Minds.” This week’s episode guest stars Jason Alexander as a serial killer who turns himself in at the beginning of a dangerous game leaving the team no choice but to play along so they can find where he is keeping his unaccounted for victims, who are still alive, but not for long.
Once more Thursday night is dominated by the underdog network, the CW. At 8 is “Smallville” with an episode entitled “Bride.”
With last week’s heartbreaking episode in which Clark lost his one and only confidant when he is forced to wipe Chloe’s memory of his true identity to save her, this week once more focuses on Chloe as she marries Jimmy Olsen.
But things can never go smoothly for the characters of “Smallville” as they are faced with the return of an old friend and unexpected wedding crasher in the form of Doomsday in all his rocky glory, who is hell-bent on claiming Chloe for himself.
