Looking for something interesting and different to do this weekend?
Johnson City night club Chrome is hosting a fashion show this Friday for anyone interested in checking out new and old fashions or just having a roundabout good ol’ time.
The show is entitled, “Old Skool, New Skool,” and is just as it seems, showcasing current and older pre-millennium styles of fashion for the Tri-Cities area.
The show is being sponsored by the Johnson City vintage clothing store, Bettye Jane’s and local hair salon “Bang.” Owners Tim Smith and Laura Altizer are working to collaborate their individual styles to promote their small businesses.
The clothes are from the Bettye Jane’s collection, and models are allowed to choose their ensembles prior to the night of the show.
The hairstyles worn will be created in response to the types of clothes featured.
“There will be new stuff mixed with old stuff,” Kayla Carter, Bettye Jane’s employee and model, says. “We got to improvise our own outfits and introduce them to Laura for her final critique.”
Some of the shoes the models will be wearing are from their own personal collection but the rest are from Tim’s collection of Tom’s, an agency created where all sale proceeds go to the needs of children in Africa, says Carter.
Local band Panzer was scheduled to play the show but had to cancel due to lack of proper communication on the date, Bettye Jane’s owner Smith says.
The band Commerce is now scheduled to be playing.
The fashion show is this Friday, Dec. 5.
You must be 18 years of age to enter and there is a $2 cover charge. Doors open at 9 p.m.
