Imagine a book . any book, any length, any plot. With any book you think about, it is going to have a cover, a table of contents and chapters layed out by the author.
As I thought about the contents of a book, I began to see a comparison to our lives.
Our lives could be a book. We would have a cover, a table of contents and chapters layed out by the author. Our covers would depict who we are as a person.
What would your cover look like? Would it be a picture of a Christ-like person?
Would that depict you best or would it be a picture of you living an ungodly life?
Our lives are laid out into the chapters of our book, one chapter after another, unfolding into our life story.
Each stage of our lives is a different chapter. But what about the author of our chapters? Who are you allowing to ultimately write your story?
A long time ago, I decided to make God the ultimate author of my story. I knew I couldn’t write out my story alone.
Beginning this semester was beginning a new chapter of that story.
With God behind me, pushing me, I began the countdown till my graduation day. My college graduation and the start of my career will be my next chapter.
I will allow God to write it out and lead me in the direction he wants me to go.
God lovingly has a plan, a plot, for each one of our lives and our stories.
We can’t always see exactly what direction or plan he has in store for us, but if we let him have complete and total control of the pen, he will write out an amazing story for our lives.
It takes complete faith and trust in him. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith is more than seeing . it is more than just knowing that God can, it is believing that God will.
I know I’m living out the chapters God wrote for me in my story.
What about you? Does the cover of your life story say “Author: Your Name” or “Author: God”?
What chapter of your life are you in at this moment? What direction are you heading? Are you trusting in God and letting him write your story?
If you are not, I assure you are missing out on wonderful plans God has in store for your life. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths,” Proverbs 3:5-6.
Today as you go about your day, simply ask yourself if you are living out God’s story for your life or your own selfish plot.
God does have a plan for you. You must have faith in God and trust that He will show you the right path.
Live by Hebrews 11:1. Don’t just know that God can, believe that he will and let him write . your next chapter!
