This week finds not only a love-filled holiday but also a day feared by the superstitious. With Valentine’s Day and Friday the 13th right around the corner, this week in television mirrors both events.
Monday finds most major stations interrupted by a presidential news conference at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m. on NBC is “Heroes.” After last week’s return, the heroes find themselves on the run as Nathan’s ploy to eliminate all others with powers goes into play.
Tuesday has the first Valentine’s Day program of the week. On ABC is “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” which originally aired in 1975 followed by “A Charlie Brown Valentine” which is one of the newest specials in the Peanuts collection. At 9 p.m. on ABC are two back-to-back episodes of “Scrubs,” continuing its final season on a new channel.
On Wednesday is the unlikely pairing of “American Idol” and “Lost.” At 8 p.m. on FOX is “American Idol” which is now in the final elimination rounds in Hollywood. At 9 p.m. on ABC is “Lost” with an episode entitled “This Place is Death.” This week finds the Islanders fighting to survive the time jumps that are beginning to take them out. While the Oceanic 6 struggle to determine whether to return to the island or not.
At 8 p.m. on FOX is the 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards hosted by Halle Berry and Tyler Perry which celebrates the contributions of people of color to literature, music, television and movies.
At 9 p.m. on the NBC is “The Office.” A continuation of last week’s episode, “Lecture Circuit,” finds Michael and Pam hoping to reunite Michael with lost love Holly. While back at the office, Jim and Dwight try to make amends with Kelly when they forget her birthday.
And for Friday, which is something I don’t usually include in my weekly watches, I offer a few Friday the 13th-inspired shows as well as the latest creation from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator Joss Whedon. At 9 p.m. on Fox is Whedon’s newest venture into Science Fiction, “Dollhouse.” Starring Eliza Dushku, “Dollhouse” is about a secret organization that uses agents for hire who have had their memories erased so that the organization can implant new personalities according to their missions. Dushku stars as Echo, one of the agents, who comes in contact with an agent desperate to expose the “Dollhouse.”
At 10 p.m. on USA is “Psych.” The episode entitled “Tuesday the 17th,” has Shawn and Gus investigating the mysterious disappearance of a camp counselor who disappeared near an abandoned camp grounds but the camp’s dark past takes the investigation to a spooky level.
