Dear Editor,
I read the East Tennessean during my break as a way of clearing my head for a moment. It’s something to read that gives my mind a break from my regretfully mundane classes this semester.
There are some things I don’t enjoy reading on the other hand. This involves ETSU and the constant talks of budget cutting. I am aware of the current economic slump and I understand that changes must be made to optimize the situation. Unfortunately, I have to look at those dreadful ETSU posts that resemble election signs everyday and almost every step of the way.
They are a clear waste of money, they clutter the natural beauty of the plant life on campus and to make it all the worse, have messages such as “call your mom” or “check your Goldmail.”
College students should not have to be told to do things of this nature and, since I can only assume they come from our tuition, not on my dollar.
If the signs were used appropriately, such as the reminder to fill out your FASFA, it would be arguable. But this is not the case.
There are other budget-wasting issues, but the signs are the most asinine and were the most noticable when I was writing this letter.
