“Greek” is now in its third season on ABC Family and many students plopped down in front of their television sets to watch the season premiere on Monday, March 30.
This season is full of new twists and turns and a new addition to the cast: Jesse McCartney. There are going to be many different things happening on this season and viewers can’t wait for all the plots to unfold.
The show started off with Zeta Beta Zeta ex-president Casey Cartwright (Spencer Grammer) coming back, from her internship in Washington D.C., a completely changed woman. Convinced she wasn’t “serious” enough, she leased an off-campus apartment and planned to move out of the ZBZ house without informing her best friend Ashleigh (Amber Stevens), current president of ZBZ. However, things changed when Rebecca (Dilshad Vadsaria), ex-ZBZ shared plans of starting her new “unofficial” sorority called Iota Kappa Iota or IKI. Ashleigh convinced Casey to stay with her in the ZBZ and plan recruitment so as not to let IKI become the best.
While all of this is going on, Rusty Cartwright (Jacob Zachar), Casey’s brother and newly initiated Kappa Tau, tries to transition from the Honors Engineer dorm, into the Kappa Tau house. He tries to create his own private, soundproof oasis, but fails and can’t get used to the schedules nap times and weird eating habits of his brothers, so he ultimately moves out with his old roommate into the apartment which Casey leased at the beginning of the episode.
The new addition to the cast, Andy (Jesse McCartney), is an all American football player with a 4.0. He’s a first time freshman and the battle begins from the very start of the episode between Cappie(Scott Michael Foster) Kappa Tau and Evan (Jake McDorman) Omega Chi make him want to rush their fraternities. Cappie and the Kappa Taus invite Andy to their parties and to show them what KT life is all about, while the Omega Chis do the same. Ultimately, it looks like Andy will be rushing Kappa Tau which makes Evan (Omega Chi’s president) very angry to say the least.
What do ETSU students think about Jesse McCartney’s addition to the “Greek” cast? Freshman, Savannah Human, stated, “It’s about time Jesse McCartney went Greek!”
The expanding cast is making all avid viewers pretty excited about upcoming episodes. The excitement doesn’t stop with the first episode. There are eleven more in this season and with guest stars and new romances, it’s sure to be the best one yet.
Actress Janeane Garofalo is said to be appearing at Cyprus Rhodes as a Women’s Studies professor later on in the season and is definitely going to influence Casey as well as Cappie in two very different ways.
Alan Ruck, known more for his role in “Ferris Bueller’s Day” off as Cameron, makes appearances as Dean Bowman in some episodes as well. It’s sure to never be dull at Cyprus Rhodes or on Monday nights at ETSU for those who love “Greek.
