East Tennessee State University’s Little Buccaneers Student Child Care Center has been awarded Pledge status by the Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership (TP3) through the state’s Department of Environment and Conservation, meaning Little Bucs is on its way to becoming the only child care center to be TP3 certified.
Little Bucs achieved recognition by completing a pledge card stating a commitment to positive environmental action through initiating simple pollution prevention practices.
The next step toward earning the title of “Green School” involves moving to the Partner level through documentation of a project in the areas of recycling and energy or water conservation.
The environmental effort should prevent pollution of air, land and water – while conserving natural resources.
Little Bucs has partnered with ETSU’s University School, the center’s mentor through the process of developing a five-project plan.
The final level, Performer, requires the submission of information concerning four additional projects as well as involving the community in pollution prevention activities and acting as a mentor to others in the partnership.
