Despite besting their first round team score by six strokes, the No. 30-ranked ETSU men’s golf team lost ground to first place and host Campbell during second round play Tuesday in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships at the Keith Hills Country Club’s Creek Course.
The Buccaneers fired a second round score of 1-over-par 289 to move into sole possession of seventh place, but looked on as four other teams in the field posted under-par rounds. Campbell now stands at 11-under 565 for the event, and holds a seven-stroke edge over defending team champion North Florida for the top spot.
Individually, ETSU true freshman Michael Stewart is currently the Bucs’ top performer, posting a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 10th on the leaderboard. Stewart is just four strokes out of first place, which is currently shared by Campbell’s Vaita Guillaume and Kennesaw State’s Michael Tulacz at 6-under-par for the event.
