As part of ETSU’s Earth Week, a small group of students gathered in the Cave to watch the film, “Sustainable Table”, by Mischa Hedges. Lead by ETSU’s Initiative for Clean Energy (ICE) president, Lance Lewis, the group drank free fair-trade coffee provided by Java City.
“The reason we’re doing this is to create a stir on campus,” said Lewis. “Everyone eats and there are not many people that consider the impact their food has on the planet.”
Other activities in celebration of Earth Week will continue throughout the week. Today’s activities include an Earth Day Festival in Borchuck Plaza from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be a Rally for Renewable Energy tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., and on Saturday students are invited to help with Appalachian Trail maintenance. Those interested in the trail maintenance should meet up in the Discount Liquors parking lot at 9 a.m. and will be working near Cherry Gap in Unicoi County until 3 p.m.
