ETSU on Wednesday evening lifted a campus-wide alert that had been issued following a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred late Tuesday night at Buccaneer Ridge.According to information released Wednesday evening, the woman who reported the assault has chosen not to press criminal charges. No other charges are pending.
Early Wednesday morning, ETSU faculty, staff and students received an alert via e-mail, stating that a sexual assault was reported to have occurred at the apartment complex between 11:30-11:50 p.m. the previous evening. The alert also advised employees and students to not walk alone and to report any suspicious acts.
In the initial report, the alleged victim stated the alleged assailant was a stranger. However, after further investigation, the woman admitted that she did know the alleged assailant and that he did not force his way into her residence., accoring to information released by ETSU media relations.
