“Don’t worry, I did this in front of four presidents … at Mt. Rushmore. They were stoned,” said Justin Kredible right before one of his magic tricks. This was how most of the night went in Kredible’s performance. His impressive magic tricks were balanced with a comedy routine that kept the crowd laughing throughout the whole act.

On Wednesday night Buctainment presented “Like a Magician, But Cooler” by Kredible to ETSU’s D.P. Culp University Center’s auditorium, as a free performance for students.

Kredible is a regular correspondent to the “Rachael Ray” show, has made an appearance on Disney’s “The Suite Life on Deck,” was awarded the “Entertainer of the Year 2009” title from Campus Activities Magazine (this being his third year honored), co-star of the MTV show “Room 401” and creator of the video-on-demand series “Turning Tricks” on the Lifeskool network.

Justin has been entertaining since he was 12, and has the reputation of being a premier performer.

Performing on ETSU’s campus was no exception. Kredible was consistently interactive with the audience from beginning to end, from involving audience members in his tricks and even including the whole audience in a video he took on stage in conclusion of his performance. His magic tricks featured the traditional card tricks and rope tricks.

While bringing the comedic standpoint into it, he also showed the audience tricks he did as a child when he was beginning his career in magic, which featured setting a bottle of water on a stand and making it disappear by knocking it over.

This was followed by a humorous act of “changing” a bottle of ketchup to a bottle of mustard by interchanging them in a brown paper bag. When he had the audience laughing, he surprised them with the real trick of making the ketchup completely disappear from the bag.

Kredible also did some mind tricks, but he still incorporated comedy.

As the audience loudly exclaimed their amazement as he bent a fork with his mind, he responded by saying, “It’s a fake fork, people.”

In the final bit of the performance, he told the audience he would switch it up a bit and teach them something, since ETSU is, after all, a learning institution.

He told the audience he was a part of a mail-order magic company, and that he would try his newly received trick with the audience for the first time. An automated voice came on and walked Kredible through steps of the trick.

The voice would tell him to fold a bandana, as he pulled out a banana and humorously began trying to fold it. Clumsily, he continued to follow the instructor’s directions while working with a mushy banana. Magically, however, by the end he pulled off the trick.

“I really enjoyed the show,” said freshman Katelyn Turley. “I thought it was really interesting and unusual. I’ve never been to a magic show before.”

Kredible was well-received by the audience and entertained the crowd by keeping them amazed by his tricks and laughing at his humor.

“I thought it was great,” said freshman Quinton Conatser. “I thought he balanced the magic with being funny really well.”
