Early next summer, ETSU will offer approximately 30 days of sightseeing and studying in China. The exact dates are dependent upon the most advantageous airfare rates for the group. The cities of Beijing and Xi’an are included in the itinerary, as well as visits to the Great Wall, Forbidden City of the Emperors, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square and the Terra Cotta Warriors. The group will interact with Chinese students and will attend lectures on Chinese language, culture, politics, society, and history.
The cost is $3,400 and includes round-trip airfare, travel within China, accommodations, meals and entry fees. Those taking the class for six credit hours will need to pay ETSU summer school tuition and fees. Community members who do not wish to earn academic credits will pay a $1,000 supplemental fee in lieu of tuition.
Other cost considerations not included in the fee are those for passports, visas, travel to and from the point of departure/arrival, incidental expenditures, and travel insurance.
An initial payment of $1,700, including a $300 non-refundable deposit, is due as soon as possible, with a second $1,700 installment due by Jan. 31.
