Senior thrower Zachlynn Blackburn (Tazewell, Va.) and junior runner Jasmine Ingram (Frederick, Md.) showcased record-breaking performances this past weekend at the 32nd annual Niswonger Invitational, and on Wednesday afternoon the Lady Buccaneer student-athletes were named Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week.Blackburn began the weekend with a exceptional showing in the weight throw on Friday evening inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center, as the Tazewell, Va., broke her own school record with a heave of 55-07.75 (16.96m).
The toss, which was over four inches better than her previous best, placed Blackburn third out of 36 competitors in the event.
Later on Friday, Ingram flew her way into the finals of the 400m after finishing first in the prelims.
Then, in the finals on Saturday, Ingram – who already owned the school mark in the event – set a new best by dominating the field with a time of 55.86.
Ingram has now all three weekly awards on the women’s track side this season, while Blackburn claimed her first honor of the year and the second of her indoor career.
