The Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will combine with the East Tennessee State University Faculty Brass ensemble in concert Tuesday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Boone St.This free public concert, part of the ETSU Department of Music’s spring concert series, highlights classic brass and organ literature, with selections from the libraries of the Canadian Brass, The King’s Brass and others.

The performance features well-known organists Michael Frazier of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsport; Vicki Fey, First Presbyterian Church of Bristol; and Laura Cates of First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City.

The ETSU Faculty Brass is made up of leading brass performers in the area, including veterans of United States military bands, current ETSU Department of Music brass faculty, and principal players of The Tennessee Brass, the Johnson City Symphony, and the Symphony of the Mountains, Kingsport. Members are Spencer Weece, brass trombone; Jimmie Self, euphonium and trombone; David Bubsey, trombone; Jeff Whaley, horn; and Zach Enos and Dr. David Champouillon, trumpet.

The ensemble performs many different styles of music and adapts selections to a variety of genres, from church, ceremony and classical music to pop, Dixieland and jazz, and regularly appears throughout the region at colleges and universities, veteran functions, weddings, church services and more.
