The 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Champion ETSU women’s tennis team and head coach Steve Brooks announced Wednesday that talented incoming freshman Barbora Krtickova has signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Bucs next season.”I am so excited to have Bara join our team next year,” said Brooks. “She is the best player we have ever signed here at ETSU. She is not only a great player, but has a great personality and will fit in well with the team. I look forward to working with her and helping her get to the highest level of college tennis and beyond.”

Kritckova travels to Johnson City all the way from Nachod, Czech Republic. During her previous career Kritckova has been ranked by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in both singles and doubles.

After winning a pair of ITF Women’s doubles titles, Kritckova climbed to as high as 652 in singles and 539 in doubles.

With the loss of lone senior Yevgengiya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) Kritckova will join a Lady Buc squad that returns all but one starter and eight letterwinners.

“This year was one of our best teams yet,” said Brooks. “Yevgeniya will be a tough loss. Anytime you lose a player who has beaten an NCAA Singles champion, 33 nationally ranked players and could play in a top position on most of the top-five ranked NCAA teams it’s not easy to find someone that can replace that type of talent.

“However with us signing Bara I know that her presents will help us stay at the top of the conference and allow us to move up in the national rankings.”
