Senior Duronal Monal made the most of his final meet before competing in next weekend’s Atlantic Sun Championship, by capturing titles in both the 100m and 200m Saturday afternoon at the UT Invitational from Tom Black Track in Knoxville.Monal, who currently boasts the top times in both sprints among conference competitors, recorded a season best mark of 10.26 in the 100m and a lifetime best of 20.75 in the 200m. Unfortunately, the 200m mark wasn’t a legal time as there was wind of 4.3 during the race.

Meanwhile, Monal’s counterpart Mike James also took home gold in the 110m hurdles after clocking in at 14.50. Fellow Buccaneer teammate Jordan Briggs turned in his fastest time this season to finish second.

Briggs’ day didn’t end in the hurdles as he was making his final preparations for next weekend’s conference championship. The senior athlete finished third in the pole vault after tying his season best mark of 15-01. Briggs also came away with his longest leap in the long jump after propelling his way up the conference performance charts with a distance of 21-08.25 – moving him from 13th to eighth among A-Sun competitors.

Wrapping things up on the men’s side was junior Matt Baum’s second-place performance in the javelin. Baum, the A-Sun favorite and ETSU record holder in the event, posted a mark of 184-03.

On the women’s side, freshman Kelly Monteleone enjoyed her best performance of the season in the long jump.

Monteleone recorded a leap of 17-08 to finish fourth, respectively.

On the track, junior Ashton Bishop clocked in at 1:05.39 – placing her fourth on the A-Sun performance list heading into the conference meet in Jacksonville.

The Bucs put everything on the line next weekend in Jacksonville when ETSU competes in the 2010 A-Sun Championships.

The two-day meet kicks off Friday, May 14 at Hodges Stadium, located on the campus of North Florida.
