Citadel Broadcasting stations WJCW-AM 910 and WGOC-AM 1320 will also join network as affiliates in 2010-11 seasonThe Buccaneer Sports Network has entered into a new agreement with WXSM 640 AM “The Sports Monster” to serve as the program’s flagship radio station beginning with the 2010-11 season.

With this new agreement, the Sports Monster will now air live all ETSU men’s basketball games, as well as selected women’s basketball and baseball games. In addition, the station will air the network’s weekly Inside Buc Sports radio coaches show, the daily “Buc Minute,” and regular interviews with Buccaneer student-athletes, coaches and administrators.

“We are excited to be bringing ETSU athletics to the premier all-sports radio station in the area,” said ETSU Assistant Director for Media Relations and “Voice of the Bucs” Jay Sandos. “WXSM has the strongest AM signal in the area, and in partnership with Citadel Broadcasting’s other AM stations, fans throughout the region will be able to catch every second of our broadcasts.

“We would like to point out that over the last three years we have enjoyed our relationship with WKOS-FM 104.9, as well as our partnership with Holston Valley Broadcasting’s family of stations that served as our baseball and women’s basketball affiliates.”

All ETSU men’s basketball games will air live on WXSM, while WJCW-AM 910 and WGOC-AM 1320 will act as affiliates for each of those games. In addition, WRGS-AM (1370) and FM (94.5) in Rogersville will once again be joining the family of affiliates in 2010-11.

With that grouping of stations, fans from Jefferson City, Tenn., to Abingdon, Va., will be able to listen to ETSU basketball, meaning the entire Mountain Empire region will be covered.

“Fans who have followed our program for some time will remember that WJCW-AM 910 served as the Bucs’ radio home for nearly two decades before our move a few years ago to WKOS-FM 104.9,” said ETSU Associate Athletic Director for Communications Michael White. “This agreement brings us back to a familiar radio station in WJCW, while also combining the ETSU brand with a high-quality, all-sports station. Our goal with the network has always been to improve our service to ETSU fans each and every year since its inception in 2004. This is another example of reaching that goal.”
