After waiting through heavy rains that washed out Monday’s play, the ETSU women’s golf team was unable to keep pace with the leaders during final round action Tuesday in the UNCG Starmount Forest Fall Classic at the Bryan Park Golf Club’s Players Course. The Bucs, who posted a team score of 308 in Sunday’s first round, finished the second round at 309 and ended the 15-team event in eighth place. ETSU was led by freshman Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) and senior Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria), who both finished tied for 20th on the individual leaderboard.

While ETSU finished at 617 for the event, the Bucs were 22 strokes off the pace of team champion East Carolina. Meanwhile, Stetson’s Alex Buelow and N.C. State’s Brittany Marchand tied for the individual tilte.

For the Bucs, Muehl posted a team best round of 2-over-par 74 on Tuesday, while Evans finished at 3-over 75. Other ETSU results included a tie for 37th by freshman Larissa Steinfeldt (Eschweiler, Germany), a tie for 53rd by junior Lauren Smith (Cramlington, England), and a 60th place showing by junior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain).

ETSU will return to action Oct. 11 and 12 at the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Collegiate Championships hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville.
