The ETSU men’s soccer team received its first ever NSCAA/HendricksCars.com Regional Ranking as the Bucs were voted eighth in the South Region, announced the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Monday.”The players have worked hard in training and games, and performed well to this point in the season,” said head coach Scott Calabrese. “The regional ranking is a reflection of this.”

The Bucs (5-2-0) have won three straight at home, defeating Winthrop 2-0, Marshall 2-1 and UNC Asheville 2-1.

North Carolina is ranked No. 1 in the South Region, while Atlantic Sun foe Florida Gulf Coast is ranked just above the Buccaneers at sixth. The Bucs and Tar Heels matchup on Oct. 30 in the final home contest of the 2010 season.

“We now have two very important games this weekend,” Calabrese said. “Our goals revolve primarily around our results and performance in conference play. We must be ready for a big challenge against Campbell come Thursday night.

ETSU is set to face Campbell Thursday at 7 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
