The ETSU women’s soccer team dropped its third straight contest as the Bucs fell to Jacksonville 3-0 Sunday at the Ashley Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.”This was a tough road trip for us, and you hate to not come away with any points in a conference weekend,” said head coach Heather Henson. ” Jacksonville is a very well coached and organized team, and giving up two goals early really put us in a big hole that our team could not get out of. We are going to have to get back to work as we have a big conference weekend at home coming up.”
The Bucs (6-5-1, 2-3-0 A-Sun) were outshot 21-10 in the match by the Dolphins (8-4-2, 4-1-1 A-Sun) as shots on goal were close at 4-3. Jacksonville had a 7-2 advantage in corners.
The Dolphins got on the board early as Liz Fink settled a pass from Lisa Hensley and netted a shot from the top of the 18-yard box in the 7th minute to give JU a 1-0 lead.
Arianne Heaton added to the Jacksonville advantage in the 22nd minute as she fired a shot from 30-yards out past ETSU keeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.) to make the score 2-0.
In the second half, Hensley put the game out of reach as she knocked in a shot from inside the penalty area to put the Dolphins ahead 3-0 in the 50th minute.
ETSU is back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. as the Bucs host Florida Gulf Coast at Summers-Taylor Stadium in the final home weekend of the season.
