ETSU faced off against the King College Tornadoes in their final exhibition game on Nov. 7. The Lady Bucs looked to recover from a loss to Tusculum Nov. 1 before hitting the road for their season opener against UT Chattanooga on Nov. 12. ETSU built momentum for this out of conference matchup by defeating King 80-67.

Neither team was able to take a commanding lead leaving the game within three, until King finally started a run early in the half extending their lead to as much as nine points before ETSU was able to recover.

The Lady Bucs soon fought back to a tie and took the lead going into halftime, 37-34 ETSU.

The second half was all ETSU from the beginning, with ETSU outscoring King 8-2 in the first two minutes of the half.

ETSU continued to score on King, extending their lead to 18.

King was able to fight back but the deficit was too much for the Tornadoes to overcome, a final 80-67 ETSU victory.

“We picked up on our defense in the second half,” said Tara Davis. “We started to make the extra effort to get to the ball.”

Both teams struggled with fouls, getting to double bonus in each half and three players fouled out.

King was led by Ashley Dean with 26 points and Derika Mooney with 16 points.

ETSU had four players in double digits but the team was led by Tara Davis, who had 20 points.

Gwen Washington and Destiny Mitchell also had 15 points each.

ETSU travels to Chattanooga in the season opener on Nov. 12.
