Mercer had four players record double-digit kills and the Bears downed ETSU 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 13-25, 22-25) in Atlantic Sun volleyball play on Saturday afternoon at the University Center.Mercer improves their record to 14-16 overall and 6-3 in the Atlantic Sun, while ETSU falls to 23-8 and a matching 6-3 A-Sun mark.

Jamie Duff (13), Amiee Frutchey (11), Krista Hurley (11), and Libby Hansch (10) each recorded double-digit kills for the Bears on the afternoon. Mercer outhit ETSU .210 to .108 for the match.

Alysa Long (Romulus, Mich.) was the lone Buc with double-digit kills as she finished the match with 10 kills and five blocks.

Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) had nine kills and 10 digs, while Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) had a double-double of 34 assists and 14 digs, while also adding seven kills and three blocks.

Kiley Tamblyn (Torrance, Calif.) led the ETSU defense with 15 digs.

After Mercer earned the opening set victory, both teams traded points for much of the second set until a Cogburn kill put the Bucs up 23-22.

On the very next play, ETSU got a crucial block from Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.) and Jamie Stancliff (Advance, N.C.) that put the Bucs up two and forced a Mercer timeout. Then, with the Bucs up 24-23, a Stancliff kill gave the set victory for the Bucs to tie the match at a set apiece.

ETSU could not keep the momentum on their side as Mercer won the next two sets to close out the match.
