East Tennessee State University’s George L. Carter Railroad Museum will hold a special event on Saturday, Nov. 20, in conjunction with the museum’s third anniversary and ETSU’s Homecoming.Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Delanna Reed, an instructor in ETSU’s graduate program in storytelling, will welcome the public to share recollections of family and friends and their connections to the area’s railroad history.

Participants’ memories will be recorded and archived to preserve a living history of the early railroads of the region and the people they served.

A number of model railroading clinics will also be held on Saturdays during November, which is National Model Railroad Month.

Admission is free at the Carter Railroad Museum. Staffed by members of the Mountain Empire Model Railroaders, the museum is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and can be identified by a flashing railroad crossing signal.

Find the museum by entering ETSU’s campus from State of Franklin Road onto John Robert Bell Drive and turning left onto Ross Drive.
