The ETSU women’s golf team travelled to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The tournament took place from Oct. 27 through 29.
This is their fourth tournament of the season.
Junior Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) has been the leader for the team in their first three tournaments of the season. She has a 71.56 stroke average, which is the second lowest in the southern conference.
Melecka finished off day one of the tournament with a bang. She fired a 1-under-par 71 and placed herself tied for third.
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas’s Elina Saksa holds first place at 3-under-par 69, while Fresno State’s Brigitte Thibault is in second place at 2-under-par 70.
Sophomore Warda Amira Rawof (Kuala Lampur, Malaysia) is tied for 33rd place and ETSU’s junior Kornbongkoat Sararat (Nongkhai, Thailand) tied for 49th place.
By the end of the second day of the tournament, Melecka was in second place. Rawof was at the top of a seven-way tie for 20th place between Harriet Lynch from Fresno State, Dominique Galloway from New Mexico State, No-Hsin (Eddie) Hsu from University of Idaho, Suthavee Chanachai from New Mexico State and Sarah Bell from Oral Roberts University.
The team finished 12th of 18 at the end of the tournament Oct. 29.
By the end of the second day, Sararat became tied for 57th place with Nicole Le from University of California Riverside, Caitlyn Skavdahl from University of Wyoming, Ping Huang from University of California Riverside and Nao Bando from University of California Riverside.
Their next tournament will be in the new year from Feb. 21 to 23 in Lake Oconee, Georgia.
