On April 20, ETSU’s Department of Music put on a piano recital.

This performance was done by the students of Esther Park and Yi-Yang Chen and showcased the talents of 10 students in the music department. All students performed classical pieces.

“It was really cool to see the music students perform,” said Whitney Royston, a student at ETSU. “I love listening to piano music, and the students showcased did an amazing job.”

The students who performed were James Shawcross performing 3 Intermèdes, Op.40, No. 1: Cavatine, Sarah Queener performing Sonata in D Major, Hob. XVI:37, 1st mvt, Julia Brown Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), Op.15, Farah Jeudy performing Arabesque No. 1, Julia Brown performing Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), Op.15, Dingxuan Gao & Chuxuan Li performing Melody from Petite Suite Jianzhi Wu performing Partita No. 2 in C Minor, Capriccio, Xinruo Wei performing Etude in C Minor, Op. 10-12, Dingxuan Gao performing Gnomenreigen (Dance of the Gnomes) from 2 Concert Studies, Austin Robinson performing Le Tombeau de Couperin and Chuxuan Li performing Étude tableaux, Op 39 No 1 in C minor.

This performance was livestreamed on YouTube due to COVID-19 safety procedures and restrictions and is still available to be viewed on the site for any who wish to see the performance. During the livestream, viewers could participate in a live chat to discuss the performances. The recital lasted around one hour.

“I loved listening to the performances,” said Tess Whitson, a student at ETSU. “It was clear from watching the students perform how much dedication to and talent they have with music.”
