Our campus has been bustling with the beepings of cranes and purring of drills over the last couple of months. With so much going on it, is easy to lose track of what all is being added to the ETSU turf. Here are a few of the things that have been added and are also in the works.

University Commons: You have to have been living under a rock to miss this one. Opened on April 16 of this year, the Commons is a new common space for so many students living on campus who don’t live next to Tri-Hall field. The Commons is packed full of things for students to do in between classes, or late at night when they want a break from the hustle and bustle of classes; mini golfing, cornhole, shuffleboard, a community garden and the highly coveted slide.

The Embankment Slide: Opened last month, the new slide is a fun addition to campus. ETSU has been making strides towards having a campus that is more than just a collection of buildings and sidewalks. However, pouring soapy water and going down the slide is an easy way to break your neck. You have been warned.

New Stone Fireplace at the Entrance of the Culp: That giant blockade outside of Starbucks will soon be removed to reveal a giant fireplace just in time for fall. Imagine being able to curl up next to it when the weather dips below 30 degrees. Its gentle flames will be able to soothe your tears during finals week, it will make the Culp feel much homier.

Rumored Candy Shop: Rumor has it that a candy shop/bakery is expected to be built in the University Commons, supposedly offering a variety of candies and baked goods able to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. (The freshman-15 will become the freshman-30 if ETSU keeps this up.)

The variety of structures being built on campus conveys that administration is listening to our requests and want campus life to be as vibrant and diverse as possible.
