The Murdaugh’s – part two, a series of corruption, collusion, and centuries of injustice for South Carolinians.

Mallory Beach, a 19-year-old South Carolina native, was tragically killed in a boating accident one February night in 2019. The six friends including Paul Murdaugh, his girlfriend Morgan Doughty, Connor Cook, Miley Altman, Anthony Cook and Mallory Beach, went out for a night on the boat, complete with a fresh supply of alcohol and no rules.

They set off into the low country waters and began spending their night partying, stopping off for drinks at a local bar and continuing on the water – wasted, with more alcohol and Paul’s drinking attitude. Paul continued to drive, refusing to let others take over the vessel and crashed the boat into the bridge on Archer’s Creek. Mallory was thrown from the boat and disappeared into the waters of Archer’s Creek. Her body washed ashore a few days later.

Mallory Beach’s death was truly the beginning of the end for the Murdaughs and their way of maneuvering lady justice from interfering with their way of life. Investigative Reporter, Mandy Matney jumped into the storm and began investigating the family, the Beach case and investigations and how this centuries old family could still be calling all of the shots in the low country. What she stumbled onto would change the trajectory of South Carolina justice and the lives of the rich, poor, injured and wronged. Breaking the news of almost every lead in the story, Matney has brought to light the inconcinnities in many murders or suspicious deaths that were covered through stories and backwoods justice.

Stephen Smith is a prime example, a student with a passion for serving others, was brutally murdered. However, his death? It was ruled as a hit and run. Even as the rumors of the Murdaugh boy being involved ran through the low country. Gloria Satterfield, the beloved Murdaugh housekeeper and former Murdaugh nanny, tragically died following an accident at Moeselle. An accident no one can seem to explain, and an accident that brings one of Alec.

Murdaugh’s largest crimes to light, his theft of client trusts, or settlement money. Mandy Matney worked hard to break stories on these and left the low country reeling. Shortly after the murders of Paul and Maggie, Alec resigned and admitted to his theft of client money. This is just the beginning.
