The nationally recognized Black Jacket Symphony is coming to Johnson City on Sept. 23. The Martin Center is hosting the group as it travels across the United States on one of their many tours.

The group has toured the country for the last 13 years bringing a variety of classic rock music albums to all sorts of cities. The symphony will be performing the album “1984” by the group Van Halen. The Black Jacket Symphony recreates many of these easily recognizable albums for all generations of classic rock lovers. Their discography includes: AC/DC’s “Back in Black,” The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” and The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”

The Black Jacket Symphony provide a wide variety of albums because of the size of the group. The musicians that perform each album change at every event. Those that perform the night of the performance are chosen specifically for that album. Therefore, on the night of Sept. 23, the musicians who perform Van Halen’s “1984” may not be the same ones that perform another album they have recreated such as Nirvana’s “Nevermind.”

The group strives to bring back the nostalgic feeling of listening to these albums for the first time. The Black Jacket Symphony ensures that they recreate each live album they perform “note for note, sound for sound,” according to their website. Millions of class rock lovers flock to their concerts to relive the memory of when they first listened to these albums.

“It’s a full night of rock and roll magic—plus a visual experience unlike any other,” states their website.
