On Oct. 25, Buctaiment held their Murder Mystery event as part of their Fall Fest celebration. The event was held at the D.P Culp Student Center in Ballroom B from 7 to 8 p.m.

Teaming up with the Resident Hall Association, both organizations made this event possible to bring Bucs together in a festive, chilling way to celebrate Halloween.

Only in their second year of doing Fall Fest, Melissa Orozco-Perez, the collaborative chair of Buctainment, oversaw this program and spoke on its progress. Prior to the event, Orozco-Perez had been meeting with RHA since August to make sure the night ran smoothly and was filled with Halloween spirit.

“I’ve been meeting with RHA and we’ve been planning small details and how it’s going to work, and for murder mystery, they already had the kit.” Orozco-Perez said.

Although in her first year of being the collaborative chair of Buctainment, Orozco-Perez shared her excitement and pride to be part of the team. Having been only a volunteer for the program prior to her new position, she started off strong with a new and modern twist on gathering the community in a fearful fashion.

“I really hope that people come out,” Orozco-Perez said. “I think it’s going to be really fun, and I want people to come out and have fun.”

In charge of ETSU’s convivial spirit all year round, Buctainment continues to uphold its message of school unity and entertainment amid a hectic semester. Hoping to get more students involved, Ozcoro-Perez shared a few words for hesitant participants.

“Buctainment is really welcoming,” she said. “Everyone in it, they are just amazing people. Don’t be afraid”

Encouraging students to take a break and have fun while fortifying teamwork and communication, the Murder Mystery event brought students together to become investigators and join forces as a team in search of the truth.
