With the new spring semester comes new opportunities for expansion and renovation on ETSU’s campus.

“I think if you look at ETSU and the progress we’ve made, it’s a beautiful place,” says Jeremy Ross, chief operating officer in the Office of Administration. “In the next five years, there will be a profound difference in the way students live on campus, what they experience on campus, where they eat, where they gather and now the classroom spaces where they learn.”

There is a wide array of projects in the works, from large to small, totaling around $300 million.

One of the larger projects includes Brown Hall, the largest academic building on campus, which will be completely renovated in two phases into a state-of-the-art science facility, costing $93.6 million. Changes can be expected in classrooms, labs and the addition of new technology.

Lamb Hall renovations are set to be completed within the next month and a half as a $26 million project.

A new Integrated Health Services building to house clinicians, professionals and students is in the works, which is a $93.9 million project with the intention of providing learning opportunities through experience in fields such as medicine, dental hygiene and social work.

There are also many smaller projects in the works from classroom renovation, to sports facility renovation and $30 million in housing projects. There is soon to be a new grounds project as well, including green areas behind Lamb Hall and a second phase for the University Commons.

“Students value the outdoors, sustainability, the outdoor economy,” said Ross in regard of the grounds projects. “That’s a large part of the decision making for many of our students. So, particularly for students who come from out of state or other areas, the beauty can be impactive.”

Ross also expressed a great appreciation for everyone who has helped fund and support campus renovations.
