On Feb. 4, the ETSU Marching Bucs helped close out The Black Jacket Symphony concert at The Martin Center with a special rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Tusk.”

The Black Jacket Symphony is a rock band that covers classic albums in their entirety, plus adding a few of the select artist’s greatest hits. Their setlist for The Martin Center concert involved Fleetwood Mac’s album “Rumors,” featuring songs such as “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman,” “Go Your Own Way,” and some of their other hits such as “Landslide,” and a finale of “Tusk.”

The Black Jacket Symphony is a band founded by J. Willoughby and Damon Johnson in 2009. They were inspired by the way a symphony orchestra performs the greatest works of the classical romantic eras, and therefore they decided to do the same by recreating note-for-note classic rock albums.

Their discography includes AC/DC’s “Back in Black,” The Eagles’ “Hotel California,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Guns N Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction,” and more.

One aspect that The Black Jacket Symphony brings to the end of their concerts is often a high school or college marching band as part of their finale. For this show, The ETSU Marching Bucs has the honor of being a special part of their performance.

The band ran in and lined the aisles of The Martin Center as the fans cheered and danced along with the them. Around 50 members of the ETSU Marching Bucs came out for the occasion.

The Black Jacket Symphony will be back in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday, Apr. 8 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium to perform Tom Petty’s “Full Moon Fever.” To get tickets, visit their website blackjacketsymphony.com.
