On Wednesday, March 29, East Tennessee State University Sport Management will be hosting the Breaking into Sports event.
The event was first created in 2019, and now the event operates at full capacity with over 30 sport organizations participating and 150 students registered to attend.
The event is held at the Bristol Motor Speedway in the Bristol Club Suite in order to create a more intimate networking experience for the student participants and the professionals.
Amanda Greene, one of the organizers, spoke on the efforts that go into the event.
“Much time and effort is spent each year preparing for the event. Myself and Landon Owen (BMS) secure panel members to speak to the students. Past and present panels include professionals from the NHL, MiLB, NCAA DI athletic departments, NASCAR and International Sport.”
The event is split into three parts. The first part consists of two panels of professionals that speak to the students. The second part is speed networking, consisting of students in small groups rotating to each of the 30 organizations. Lastly, the event ends with open networking, where students are welcome to openly speak with any of the organizations they may want more information from.
The event is sponsored by ETSU Sport Management, Bristol Motor Speedway and Global Sport Leadership (ETSU). The sponsors provide a bag of goodies for all participants.
The event occurs on an annual basis and will hopefully continue to grow in the future.
